Tales from The Theatre Bizarre

FanTasia’s carnival of souls atmosphere was particularly apparent during the world premiere of The Theatre Bizarre, a project dreamed up by longtime devotees of the festival.

Triggered by producer David Gregory, six hyper-imaginative directors who embrace the hideous worked with the same minimal budget to come up with short films that evoked anthologies like Tales from the Crypt, and the ultra-nasty French tradition of Grand Guignol. Gregory inked himself in as director of one of the films in this Canada-USA-French production shot in Quebec, the US, the UK, Germany and France. Linking the seven tales, a Crypt-like wraparound features the king of decadent dementia, Udo Kier, as the evil puppet emcee of a creepy old theatre, and was directed by Jeremy Kasten (The Wizard of Gore).
